Courtesy/NNSANNSA News:WASHINGTON, D.C. 鈥?As part of the ongoing effort to refurbish the aging B61 nuclear bomb without resorting to underground nuclear testing, two successful B61-12 radar drop tests were successfully completed at the Tonopah Test Range in Nevada on Aug. 14 and 15, 2013, by engineers from Sandia National Laboratories.Current B61s use decades-old vacuum tubes as part of their radar system. The new radar system, which had not been tested outside of a laboratory environment, was assembled in a gravity bomb configuration and successfully functioned as it was dropped fro <a href=https://www.stanleycups.cz>stanley quencher m a helicopter. The B61 contains the oldest components in the U.S. arsenal, said Don Cook, National Nuclear Security Administration Deputy Administrator for Defense Programs. COUNTY News:The final public hearing is scheduled for proposed changes to the natural gas rate ordinance by the Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilitie <a href=https://www.cups-stanley.uk>stanley uk s DPU .The proposed changes arent typical rate adjustments and they dont increase the fixed rates adopted last fall. Instead, they include an increase to the variable rate cap, an additional recovery rate component and a compensatory minimum value for the variable portion of the gas rate.The public hearing will take place at 6 p.m. at the March 28 County Council meeting. The public may attend in person in Council Chambers or online via Zoom using the link. Attendees can give public comment whether they attend in person or online. If adopted by Council, the ordinance changes will take effect April 8.While the proposed changes are in response to rapidly escalating commodity costs paid by the utility, DPU management recognizes the potential impact they may have on customers and suggests three ways to soften it:To ease the burden of seasonally high bills, utility customers are encouraged to sign u stanley quencher p for Budget Billing if they have 12 months of utility history in Los Alamos.
