For all the enthusiastic efforts of its organisers, FilMart, Hong Kong s annual film and television programmes market continues to fight for its place in the calendar. The fifth edition of FilMart, ended on Friday with a whimper, rather than a bang. This year, 130 film and TV companies from <a href=https://www.cups-stanley.ca>stanley cup 17 countries and regions are taking part, with a 20% increase in the number of exhibitors over last year, said Peter Woo, chairman of the Trade Development Council TDC , the show s organising body. But attendance at the three day event 27-29 June was looking decidedly thin on the last afternoon as many delegates either sloped off to do a spot of shopping or headed out for more private meetings. Being the largest film event in Asia, our ambition is for this annual gathering to become the premier international marketplace for film in our time zone, said Woo. It is right that Hong Kong as centre of Asia s film industry has a convention and meeting point. But whether it is FilMart or the Hong Kong Festival has yet to be seen, said P stanley cup aul Yi, president and CEO of new Korean sales company E Pictures. For sellers there are too few buyers, for stanley cup buyers not enough product. Although FilMart should on paper have benefited from the recent demise of MIP Asia, it still felt the need to underwrite the costs of buyers attending. It is difficult to get people in town for a three day event, said one seller. Employment reform negotiations end in stalemate with union poised to set new rate cards.Employ <a href=https://www.stanleycup.pl>stanley cup ment reform negotiations between UK entertainment union BECTU and production trade body Pact have ended i stanley cup n stalemate with union BECTU now set to outline new pay rates for its members working on US productions and productions in receipt of the UK tax break from June. The three-year talks, aimed at updating pay rates and terms of employment for crew, have ended without a common agreement and with both sides accusing the other of irresponsibility.Union BECTU - which comprises 26,000 members - now intends to send producers a new set of union rate cards for its members that will apply to all new productions that qualify for the UK tax break beginning after June 1.One of the key stumbling blocks between the parties was the number of UK productions whose crew would be guaranteed the going rate, with BECTU calling for a larger number of productions - beyond the Hollywood tentpoles - to guarantee going rates. The talks also aimed at setting out clearer guidelines around working hours, overtime, turnaround, break time and compensation.Pact has warned that the unions decision not to accept its proposals could drive production away from the UK.Pact chief executive, John McVay, said: We are bitterly disappointed in this decision by BECTU to walk away from the negotiations. It is a tragedy that this is a short term position stanley cup by the union with no consideration for long term sustainable film productio

Dir: John Irvin. Ireland/UK/Germany. 2003. 90 minsWarm in spirit but slight in terms of substance, The Boys From County Clare is a lightweight period charmer. Attractively photographed and ably performed, it is a nice little inoffensive film that lacks the bite or grit to make much headway in theatrical terms. Most likely to appeal to an older demographic, it could attract some modest box-office returns from its home territory of Ireland bu <a href=https://www.cups-stanley.us>stanley cup t will struggle elsewhere. Last year s Evelyn offered a similar combination of nostalgia and sentiment and failed to make much impression despite the star presence of Pierce Brosnan. Over the course of the event, old rivalries are resumed, reconciliation is achieved and romance blossoms between Liverpudlian flute player Teddy Evans and the beautiful fiddler Anne Corr who is about to discover that Jimmy is her father.Pleasant enough, The Boys From County Clare is ultimately too superficial and lazy Zxlt Oz the Great and Powerful holds firm at the UK box office
