Domtar Inc. will take about four months to cease operations in White River, its advisor for regional communications in Northern Ontario says this morning. A lot depends on the weather, Lynne Gibson tells tells SooToday.Forestry harvesting operations come to a close offici <a href=https://www.cup-stanley-cup.ca>stanley ca ally on January 12 but Gibson says it could take some time to get all the wood out of the bush. We have to abide by our sustainability agreement and that means there have to be certain conditions for us to haul it out, Gibson said.Meanwhile wood in the lot in White River will be processed and shipped until it s all gone and existing orders have been filled.And workers in the s stanley thermos awmill will keep processing wood until all the stock taken out of the bush in coming weeks is processed as well.Gibson said Domtar Inc. expects to cease all operations in White River some time around April but can t give a firm date because there are a lot of factors affecting shut down.The primary unknown is how long it will take to get harvested wood out of the bush, she said, and that depends mostly on weather. We are waiting for it to freeze up, she said.Domtar Inc. reached the decision to close its operations in White River indefinitely recently and notified the town on Thursday of last week. We realize it s pretty much a one-industry town and we took that into consideration but you can only operate at a loss for so long, Gibson said. Domtar Inc. will take about four months to cease operations in White River, its advisor for regional communications in Northern Ontario says this morning. We have to abide by our sustainability agreement and that means there have to be certain conditions for us to haul it out, Gibson said.Meanwhile wood in the lot in White River will be processed and shipped until it s all gone and existing orders have been filled.And workers in the s stanley thermos awmill will keep processing wood until all the stock taken out of the bush in coming weeks is processed as well.Gibson said Domtar Inc. expects to cease all operations in White River some time around April but can t give a firm date because there are a lot of factors affecting shut down.The primary unknown is how long it will take to get harvested wood out of the bush, she said, and that depends mostly on weather. We are waiting for it to freeze up, she said.Domtar Inc. reached the decision to close its operations in White River indefinitely recently and notified the town on Thursday of last week. We realize it s pretty much a one-industry town and we took that into consideration but you can only operate at a loss for so long, Gibson said.
