COUNTY News:The Department of Public Utilities DPU , has postponed the public hearings for water rate changes by a month. The DPU is proposing water rate adjustments spanning the next four years. Two public h <a href=https://www.cup-stanley-cup.ca>stanley mug earings for adjustments to the existing tiered water rates are planned. The first public hearing has been moved to the Sept. 21 Board of Public Utilities BPU meeting on Zoom. If th stanley cup e BPU approves the proposed rate ordinance stanley cup , a second hearing will occur Oct. 18 at the Los Alamos County Council meeting. The rates must be adopted by the County Council before put into place. The proposed adjustments cover increases in DPUs cost to provide water service in the County. DPUs expenses are incurred in the production of potable water as well as the subsequent bulk purchase and distribution of it to customers. Rate increases will allow the DPU to generate revenues needed for current operations and to build cash reserves necessary for future infrastructure needs.DPUs water rates are structured as seasonal tiers. In the peak season of May through September, higher rates are charged to residential accounts for water use greater than 9,000 gallons, and again for water use in excess of 15,000 gallons. The tiered rates allow the DPU and its customers to benefit from low interest loans and grant programs which require that conservation efforts are encouraged through conservation plans and tiered rate structures. In Los Alamos, residential water consumption for homes with individual water me Iunm Daily Postcard: Poison Ivy Spotted At Los Alamos Reservoir

Education 101: Save Our Schools Los Alamos Meets With NMPED Deputy Secretary AguilarBy Save Our Schools Los AlamosLocal Supplements to Operating ExpensesRepresentatives of Save Our Schools Los Alamos met with Deputy Education Secret <a href=https://www.stanleycup.pl>stanley cup ary for Finance and Operations Paul Aguilar Friday, Nov. 22 to discuss a letter we sent to Secretary-Designate Skandera back in September. The letter argued that the State of New Mexico should deal with its education funding crisis by allowing local jurisdictions to provide operating supplements to promote school quality above the minimum guaranteed adequate level of education, just as local jurisdictions are allowed to provide capital supplements to provide quality school facilities. For decades, the New Mexico Public Education Department NMPED has warned that local supplements to promote school educational quality would be confiscated by cutting state funding dollar-for-dollar in response to local funding contributions.SOSLA stanley quencher s analysis is that this confiscatory action would not be the result of a State constitutional requirement, nor of a statutory provision enacted into law, nor of a promulgated Rulemaking process; but rather, it would be done as a matter of administrative policy 鈥?a policy that could simply be changed by administrative fiat, as it was imposed by administrative fiat.Deputy Secretary Aguilar has not yet endorsed or denied ou stanley france r request to change the policy to allow for local operating supplements for educational expenses. By JIM BURNSLos AlamosAfter 30 years of the Gordon family delivering free concerts to Los Alamos during the summer months, the county has determined <a href=https://www.stanleycup.com.de>stanley deutschland to go with another vendor.Whatever the reasoning for the change, I believe it will prove to be a mistake.Putting aside the commitment of the Gordons to keeping the series going through both good times and rough patches, they deserve special credit for something much more. Each year they invested significant time and effort to ensure a diverse lineup of artists who offer substantial musical roots and experiences. This is a vastly different task than just providing free concerts. After all, there are always an array of local and regional performers eager for the chance to perform in a ho-hum series. Over the years the Gordons have signed unique artists from across the continent, b stanley cup ringing to Los Alamos the likes of Dave Alvin, Lisa Morales, the Iguanas, Robbie Fulks, Claire Lynch, Ray Wylie Hubbard, David Gonzalez, Grayson Capps, and of course the Red Elvises 8230; to name but a few. These exceptional performers provided rich musical landscapes. A real challenge of bringing in such diverse talents is the risk of staging an occasional performer who offends some locals. In my assessment, this is a small price to pay for years of performances, which have routinely been rewarding. Finally, it is more than a pity that no public process took place for this momentous decision stanley polska .
